Hi and thanks for viewing the Bumpers to Jumpers website. We are Pete Ingram and Paul Gibson a lot of you may know Us from twitter as “National Hunt Pete” or @bumpertojumper and Paul Gibson @sonofgib1209 If you haven’t come across us before let me tell you a bit about ourselves and our philosophy for creating this site. Pete is a Manchester lad (yes, the Red half), ex lawyer with a building society. He was offered an attractive redundancy package back in Nov 1992 and having already been bitten by the jumping bug, decided to give it a go punting for a living. It hasn’t been easy, you think you know a lot but till you go full time you don’t realise how little you actually know. There have been a few rough years, but the majority have been profitable and is at a point in life now where the internet and the knowledge gained over the years can be used in a different way. Paul is a Stoke lad, Stoke City is in his blood, Jump Racing is in his DNA. Like Pete he has had a passion for racing all his life. Paul is a highly skilled and qualified electrical engineer and during the course of his life has worked on some huge and complex jobs. However, Racing and a significant involvement in racing was always his passion. Back in 2002 a Chance meeting in a betting shop in Kidsgrove when Paul was sweating on ( ironically enough) a Flat horse called Don’t Call me Derek for a huge 4 timer(and it won, told him to go and collect half way round) , began a firm friendship based on a deep mutual trust of each other’s strengths and that has paid off in spades over years with some enormous plots hatched on Horses like Essex in the old Tote Gold Trophy, Colonel Frank and the biggest of the lot, Denman who we were all over before he was famous having seen his point in Ireland and his NHF win on debut, we were convinced then we had a superstar on our hands and it’s fair to say he didn’t let us down. The biggest pay days being his first Hennessy and his Gold Cup. So, convinced were we that on the morning of the first Hennessy we got all the money we could on him for the Gold Cup, convinced he would win that day and his odds for the big one would be slashed, and so it proved. That friendship and trust is the rock on which all this is built and will grow. We have seen it all and stuck together through the good and bad times and now it’s time for a challenge to take all our knowledge and experience into a business and we look forward to bringing that knowledge and experience to you. Irish point to points are a huge part of our season: we learned many years ago to follow the form in Ireland, tracking not just the headline £100k plus horses but the horses that tie in to that form, so when they appear in a NHF race round Towcester or Ludlow et al we know or have a fair idea what we are looking at. Over the years that's given us an edge. Our interest in all thing National Hunt extends also to the bloodstock world. During the spring and summer when the main season is over, we love to travel to the main auctions at Goffs UK (Doncaster), Goffs Ire and Tattersalls Ire at Fairyhouse. It's great to see and speak to people who work at the various studs. The knowledge of individual mares and stallions that can be gained from just a 5 min chat by a stable door before a 3yo store is going in to the ring has proved invaluable. To utilise this range of experience, we have now moved into horse syndication with shares available in some exciting NH youngsters, details of which can be found on our website www.bumperstojumpers.co.uk. Always feel free to make an enquiry, even if horses are fully subscribed, if we feel we have the numbers we will source another. Thank you for reading this and we look forward hearing from you anytime. If you see us on course please say hello, its always great to meet new people.
