Horse Racing Hub are heading up north in support of this years MIDDLEHAM OPEN DAY to be held on the 19th April.
The open day is a fantastic opportunity to visit 11 of the 15 racing stables dotted around the village. Come face to face with the horses and trainers along with their staff and jockeys.
Tickets can be booked in advanced and collected from 9am (Ticket Collection open from Racing Welfare stand in Middleham Marketplace.1 Victoria Place, Marketplace, DL8 4NP)
The stables open from 9.30am with a number of events throughout the morning, including Food & Gift Stalls, Trade Stands and Swimming Demonstrations at Mark Johnston’s Kingsley House yard.
Other events during the day –
Parade of West Hunt of Yore Foxhounds through Middleham
Starting at 1.30pm, Middleham Open Day will be welcoming back the ROR (Retraining of Racehorses) for a parade on the Low Moor. The demonstration was very well received by the public last year and features many well-known ex-racehorses performing in their new life.
To round off the afternoon once again we will have an inter-yard team challenge for racing staff. Once again this will feature the RAW Construction Donkey Derby which proved as a very entertaining spectacle last year. The competition will also include the White Rose Saddlery Show-jumping in conjunction with the Bedale Pony Club and Egg and Spoon Race (on foot!).
